Our research team aims to overcome the limitations of current antibody-based interventions by focusing on the central role of antibody function. We specifically investigate how bacterial adaptation drives immune evasion, thereby subverting protective antibody immunity during persistent infection. By defining the determinants of effective antibody function in this context, we inform the development of intervetions that can preempt evasion mechanisms and directly enhance the antibody-mediated defense.
